Messiah Ramkissoon

a Trinidadian born Poet and Hip-Hop artist who migrated to the DMV area at the age of 11 years old then later NYC. Messiah was awarded a scholarship on the Oprah show at the age of 15 years old for community service and academic excellence. He later went on to become a three-time champion of the nationally- televised Showtime At The Apollo Theatre.

Messiah has toured with Grammy artist Kelly Price; shared stages with artists such as: Janelle Monae, Styles P, David Banner, Chris Brown and countless others…

He has graced stages from the world renowned Kennedy Center with Patti Labelle, performing alongside The National Symphony Orchestra to Howard University Homecomings.

He has been highlighted among Black Enterprise's Top 100 "BE Modern Men." He is the CEO of Green Light Music Group and founder of "Black Fathers Are Necessary" inspired by his song "Black Fathers."

When Messiah is not creating purposeful content through his poetry and music or on stage shifting culture via his artistry, Messiah serves as the Associate Executive Director of Youth Justice Network, a NYC non-profit providing intervention and resources to support 16-24-year-old youth and young adults impacted by incarceration.

Messiah continues to blaze trails for creatives as a catalyst within the culture. His music and poetic lyrics can be found on all streaming platforms.

Messiah Ramkissoon is the bridge where talent and purpose intersects.

Chris Banks

representing the 42nd Council District encompassing East New York, Starrett City, Brownsville, Canarsie, Remsen Village, and East Flatbush, is a dedicated Brooklyn native. Raised in East New York by immigrant Trinidadian and Texan parents, he imbibed the values of hard work and community from an early age. With a strong belief in giving back, Chris began his journey as a community servant, working with local youth programs and initiatives to empower his neighborhood.

His grassroots approach focuses on partnership and amplifying unheard voices, advocating tirelessly for community needs. Through effective organizing, he has successfully fought for rent stabilization, senior center preservation, and NYCHA repairs, among other vital services. Chris's commitment extends to co-founding impactful programs like East New York United Concerned Citizens Inc., providing essential services to residents.

In his various roles, including President of the 75th Precinct Council and leadership positions in community boards and block associations, Chris has worked to strengthen police-community relations and address quality of life issues. He emphasizes collaboration and community building, fostering cohesion through events and initiatives.

Maintaining a strong educational foundation, Chris attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice after graduating from local schools in East New York. He is an active member of Changing Lives Christian Center and continues to serve his beloved East New York community with dedication and pride.
